Modadugu Gupta, the 2015 Sunhak Peace Prize laureate, is one of the awardees of the Padma Award 2023.
The Padma Awards is one of the highest civilian awards in India and is announced on India’s Republic Day.
Modadugu Gupta is a Padma Shri winner, along with 106 other winners of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhusahhan, and Padma Shri. The winners receive the reward for their contributions in various fields such as art, social work, public affairs, science, and engineering.
Gupta receives the Padma Award for his exceptional contributions in his field of biology and fisheries science. His research has helped to develop methods and technologies to dramatically increase fish production.
Decades of his research has provided help across continents in Asia, Africa, and the Pacific. He is a hero that found alternative solutions to the food crisis through what became known as the Blue Revolution.
The award ceremony will take place at Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official resident of the President of India, between March and April.
The Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation sends warm congratulations to Dr. Modadugu Gupta for gaining this recognition in his homeland.
