Gino Strada against Salvini: «It has the most characteristic element of fascism, that is racism»

SILEN’ZI E FALSITA’

“Salvini? It seems to me that in him there is the most characteristic element of fascism, which is racism. As Umberto Eco wrote, there is no fascism without racism. His politics, what he says and what he did with respect to migrants, are there to witness it”.

This was said to Propaganda Live, a program that airs Friday night on La7, the founder of Emergency Gino Strada, reiterating what was said on April 25th on the deputy premier and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.

“A person who has no consideration for human life and the rights of others”, he added, “is a fascist and a racist, because right now everything is focused on the migrant issue, then creating falsehoods. Now it turns out that the 600,000 migrants to be repatriated have become 90,000. But nobody has been repatriated. So what happened? Have they died of old age? And I pass over all the nonsense and lies aimed at creating this climate of hatred and fear “.

Strada then remarked: “This does not seem nice to me. And I am also referring to legitimate defense and insisting on arms. Maybe because I lived 30 years of my life in places where there were so many and too many weapons, but I don’t feel safe in a country full of weapons. I feel safer in a country full of kindergartens, schools, conferences, concerts”.

And he concluded: “There is a very worrying silence. I believe the reason for that silence lies in the fact that on the left they have nothing to say, because they no longer believe what their fathers believed. In this country for many years there has been a desire for equality, social justice, true democracy and not toys. And it was a very beautiful and profound feeling on which to build a society of solidarity. Now what are the values? Are equality, social justice and peace still values of the left?“
