I’m a human rights fighter
Waris Dirie, A Human Rights Activist Who Publicized the Issue of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) to the World
I am a human rights fighter, or a human rights soldier.
I fight for rights of women and girls from around the world.
I’m doing this because of the problem I am facing now, which is female genital mutilation.
So this problem is thousands of years old,
and it’s been going on for so long because of lack of information and the lack of empowerment for women around the world.
That’s why we ‘Desert Flower’ focuses on education for girls.
25 years ago, it was 70 percent, and now it’s 7 percent.
So it was a big change.
A big positive change.
The world is aware of the problem.
The more people know,
the more people will do something about it.
